Our Favourite time of the year is nearly here! The Perth Royal Show is happening Saturday 23rd of September through to Saturday 30th of September and we are so excited! If you want to experience The Perth Royal Show on a budget, here’s 10 Tips to help you out:
Purchase Discount Tickets before the show
Discount tickets to the IGA Perth Royal Show are available at all IGA stores and online. If you buy an early bird family pass for two adults and two children for $65 – you can save $10 off the gate price. Plus children 4 and under are FREE this year.
Kids go HALF PRICE
Kids get half priced entry on Thursday 28th of September. If you’re heading to the show with grandparents, half price entry for seniors is on Friday 29th of September.
Catch the Train
Save on fuel and parking costs by taking the train to Claremont Showgrounds. It’s hassle free and the kids love it! A family rider pass is $12.60 and lasts all day. Visit the Transperth website to plan your journey. Kids four years and younger travel on Transperth for FREE.
Food & Drink Samples/Specials and BYO Picnic
There are lots of options when it comes to food. You can pack your own picnic and set up a spot on the grass near the Main Arena to watch the goings on there while you eat. This year, you can take advantage of loads of food and drink samples in the “Taste WA” pavilion. There’s always something on for food lovers at the Royal Show!
Follow the Yellow Brick Road
Every year, we buy the Yellow Brick Road Showbag that leads us around to all sorts of Free Activities and discounts at The Perth Royal Show. This year the Yellow Brick Road Showbag includes free activities, competitions, and 2 for 1 offers and discounts including an offer for banana smoothies and cheese toasties! The Yellow Brick Road route runs daily from 9am – 5pm and should take about 2 hours to complete. On Tuesday 26th of September, the bags are half price!
Catch a Free Show
There’s loads of FREE Entertainment at the show! Our favourite picks for the family this year are Team D-Max Precision Driving show will make your jaw drop! 2 shows daily in the main arena at 1.10pm and 7.30pm. Kids can meet the drivers in Amherst Avenue in between the shows too and get a closer look at the cars. Sam Powers, from the sell-out world tour of “The Illusionists”, will attempt a death defying escape. In a nail biting spectacle, Sam will be suspended 30 feet in the air in a straight jacket under a flaming set of steel jaws, ready to be devoured once a thin rope burns through and the jaws come crashing shut. Exciting! Show starts at 6pm daily.
2 for 1 Rides at Kiddieland
Purchase two “kiddie ride” tickets for the price of one ($6) from 3-4 pm each day, they can be used until 7pm. Find these tickets at Carnival Amusements outside the Brownes Dairy Pavilion.
View the 10,000 Animals on Display
Little animal lovers will delight in Petstock Animal Nursery 9am-8pm, and head on over to Creatures Great and Small Pavilion to pat a pig, snuggle a bunny, cuddle a chick and watch the judging. All free!
The Racing and Diving pigs were a huge hit last year and they are back again this year. See the racing and diving pigs daily near Gate 8 at 11.00am, 12.30pm, 2.00pm, 3.30pm and 5.00pm. Ever seen a pig dive? Now you can! Watch the performing piggies dive off a diving board into a diving tank!
Buy a Budget Showbag
There are about 40 showbags that are available for just $4 or $5. There’s Bertie Beetle, Whizz Fizz, Trolli and more! Hopefully at these prices, everyone will go home with at least one! Check out all the 2017 Showbags here.
Free Night-time Entertainment after dark
The Fireworks Spectacular is a must see! Watch as the Fireworks light up the sky nightly at 8pm. Our family finds this the perfect finale for our time at The Perth Royal Show!
This year there’s also the “Dance of the Drones!” This spellbinding coordinated performance is held every evening at 7.15pm in the Main Arena and will light up the sky!
