Araluen Botanical Park is popular for locals and tourists – but be sure to head up Heritage Drive and check out Views 101 Cafe and Bar at the Araluen Golf Resort. You do not need to be a member to dine in and don’t be put off taking your kids, they welcome children and are trying to boost their family-friendly vibe.
Having said that we did caution our children to stay off “the green” away from golfers and buggies. Clearly taken on board by my kids as evidence in this delightful snap of roly-poly madness down the hill…towards the green, the golfers and their buggy.
It’s a stunning spot and lives up to its name. There are views forever of the Enchanted Valley and the golf course itself.
The actual golf club is a lovely building with an interesting history and remnants of the venues opulent glory days of the 1990’s. It is a little tired in places, which is actually a good thing, as nobody seems particularly precious about rambunctious children clomping about! Plenty of places to explore (within reason of course, it is a resort after all).
There is plenty of seating with views wherever you choose to dine. Be mindful – this is smack bang in the middle of the bush and flies can have a field day, so bring a cover for prams and even some repellant if you want to enjoy alfresco dining. Or just sit in the lovely indoors.
The menu is seasonal and having eaten there several times now, we have enjoyed the food which is always tasty, fresh and efficiently served. The Kids Meals are always plentiful and freshly made. No frozen food here. You can book ahead which is advisable on the weekends and during busy events such as “Spring in the Valley”…especially if you enjoy fish and chips!Prices are very reasonable and you are not just paying for the view or the privilege of club dining.
They have heaps of event nights as well as classic Pint & Parma deals usually on a Friday. In the Summer months, they extend their evening hours and have live music and kids entertainment. The grounds are immaculate and mother nature certainly puts on a show to complement the hard work that goes into the manicured green and surrounds.
Plenty of opportunities for animal lovers – gorgeous koi ponds, kangaroos and magpies who enjoy a cheeky chip or two!
So much to do in this beautiful corner of the world, be sure to explore them all here!
