Down The Garden Path is a small, family run cafe and garden centre on Norma Road, Myaree. If you’re looking to step back from your busy day for just a moment, a wander into Down The Garden Path might be the way to go.
On arrival, we ventured inside in search of coffee, and were welcomed into the cafe to place an order. All orders seem to be taken on the inside of the store. Coffees to be consumed outside are served through a coffee window. There is a small selection of cakes and cookies available to enjoy with your coffee.
Inside was full of colourful garden ornaments, art and just about anything you might want to decorate your garden with, as well as some plants. Miss 2.5 wanted to touch and explore everything!
Outside in the front garden section there are tables set out in the shade of the verandah and under umbrellas, with a fairy-themed children’s play corner set out to one side. The play corner contains blocks, books, a chalkboard and a few toddler toys. This front area is fenced and gated so small children cannot run out onto busy Norma Road.
Set all around are lots of potted plants, art pieces and knick-knacks. There are all kinds of garden statues, from angels to animals to classical art-style. There are also some heavy pots and other garden decorations, all available to buy.
Hanging from the verandah are tinkling wind chimes and by the kids corner is a small water feature, both of which make for a relaxing atmosphere.
We found the cost of our morning tea quite reasonable. It cost around $30 for four coffees in mugs, four slices, and a Smartie cookie for Miss 2.5. The coffees were some of the best we’ve had! Milk for coffee is sourced locally. Almond and soy milk available if your diet is dairy-free.
Down The Garden Path are working with local Western Australian artists and crafts people to provide a range of giftware and decorations. They are also currently working to set up workshops for members of the public to participate
Overall we found Down the Garden Path to have a relaxing, welcoming atmosphere. I feel it would be a good place to catch up with the grandparents or to stop in for a quiet coffee while your young children play. I believe babies to kindy aged children would enjoy this cafe most.
Down The Garden Path is open from 9am – 5pm Tuesday to Friday, 10am – 5pm Saturday and 11am – 3pm Sunday.
Down The Garden Path is located at 65 Norma Road, Myaree. Off street parking is available for free at the front of the cafe and garden centre.
