Eagle Falls Spur in Wanneroo ticks all the right boxes for the perfect family restaurant, it doesn’t disappoint! If you are unfamiliar with ‘Spur Steak Ranches’, they are a franchise restaurant chain originating from South Africa. The menu predominately features beef burgers, steaks, ribs, chicken and salads. The restaurant chain brands itself as ‘the official restaurant of the South African family’.
Most Spur restaurants include a children’s play area, and this is one of the best I have ever seen in a restaurant! It’s like a mini play centre! The playroom is enclosed but you can see into it and there is also a camera in the which broadcasts all the action to a TV screen in the dining area.
The centrepiece of the play area is a huge climbing structure which features a trampoline and double slide.
For older kids, there is a wall of play stations!
The family seating area is located to the front of the restaurant. Here you’ll find comfortable booths and long tables capable of accommodating large groups. If you are dining sans kids, then you may wish to request a table to the rear of the restaurant, away from the play area where you’ll find a more intimate atmosphere. We were given a warm welcome to the restaurant, and the kids were made a fuss of with a ‘Spur’ Helium balloon, a ‘Spur’ hat and crayons were brought to the table so they colour their activity menus inThe kids meals include a meal, soft drink or juice (excluding milkshakes) and a signature Chico the Clown ice cream or Rainbow Jelly. They offer a wide variety of kids meals which include steak, chicken breast, fish fingers, beef burger, cheese burger, BBQ Sausages, rack of ribs and pineapple pizza. All come with a side of chips, but you also have the option to replace the chips with a side of veggies instead. The kids’ portions were a good size, and they loved their Chico the Clown Ice Cream! The Spur offer kids eat free all day Monday and Tuesday although this offer does not include a drink or ice –cream. Kids drinks separately are very reasonably with sodas and milkshakes all served in kid friendly plastic cups.
The main menu is huge and so are the portions. I opted for half a rack of pork ribs which come served with chips or a baked potato and their famous crispy onion rings. It was delicious! My companion selected the Chicken, Bacon and Avocado salad which again was another huge portion she couldn’t quite finish. Most of the menu is well-priced and a great variety especially for meat eaters including rump steaks, the mixed grill which includes steak, ribs and sausages. If you have an enormous appetite, you might want to indulge in the 1kg rib platter which consists of a gigantic combination of pork and beef ribs.If you fancy treating yourself to an alcoholic beverage or two they have a fully licensed bar to indulge in a cocktail or glass of wine.
