EAGLE ROCK SPUR HAS NOW CLOSED – 8TH APRIL 2019
The Eagle Rock Spur Restaurant in Currambine is in a super convenient location in the Currambine Central complex near other restaurants and the cinema so there is plenty of parking. It is light and airy, with windows running around the whole restaurant. We had not been to any of the other Spur restaurants in Perth so we were very excited to go along and try it out with the kiddies.
While the restaurant is all one big open plan area, it is quite large and has 2 main ‘sections’. One section is slightly raised and is near the bar as you go in. Around the corner is another section next to the soft playroom.
Our 5 and 7-year-olds loved the playroom. It is on 2 levels and everything is padded. The lower part of the play area has padded stepping stones and a couple of soft beams they can climb on or hang from and the top level has a double slide, mirrors, steps and a little bridge. By the time we left there were lots of children in the play area and they all seemed to be having a great time chasing each other around.
There are tables right next to the play area but if you are sitting further away there is a screen in the middle of the restaurant so you can monitor what your child is up to. You can see the top part of the play area from most of the restaurant so that is handy. If you have young kiddies, you would probably want to supervise them and particularly if there were lots of children there.
There are a few TV screens around the restaurant showing clips of snowboarding, etc and they are also planning to install old school computer game tables such as Pacman and Donkey Kong so they should be in the restaurant very soon.
Eagle Rock Spur has a large mix of table arrangements so you can have a booth style table or a standard one. There are a few long tables too which would be good for large groups. There were plenty of staff the day we went and the service was very friendly and fast.
The menu had a very large amount of choice with steaks, ribs, grills, chicken, fish, calamari, burgers, etc. I also love how the menu is quite flexible so you can add on different things such as sauces and ‘top ups’. There is also a big range of salads. We started with the starter platter to share which comes with ribs, crumbed mushrooms and calamari. It was all very good and particularly the ribs which I don’t usually order when I go out.
For mains, my husband had the Spur T-bone steak with added garlic prawns and I had the Spur fillet mignon. We chose chips and onion rings to go with them but the other option is a baked potato. I am always a bit nervous ordering steak at a restaurant but much to our excitement they did actually cook them medium rare, as requested.
We really liked our mains but could not completely finish them as they were pretty large. For dessert, we shared a Spur Sundae as we were both really full and this was also very nice.
The kids’ menu comes on a sheet of paper they can draw on the back of or colour in. The kiddies were also given a little pack of crayons and a hat/mask each. The kids’ menu itself has lots of choices as there are 10 different main courses for children!
Both our kiddies chose a burger and these come with chips or veggies and are full-size burgers (not mini ones). There are also nuggets, ribs, pasta, sausage, fish, pizza, etc. For $10.95 you get a kid’s main course, juice or soft drink and a dessert – either ice-cream and rainbow jelly (both our children chose this option) or a ‘clown’ ice cream. On Mondays and Tuesdays kids eat free.
Our children really liked their meals but as the portions are quite big they didn’t manage to finish their desserts. The kids’ menu is great value as the servings are certainly generous.
There is a kids club you can sign up to which gives you a voucher book and kids can eat free in their birthday month. The restaurant also hosts birthday parties and you get a free ice cream birthday cake if you have 8 children at the party. See the restaurant for full details.
We all very much enjoyed eating at Eagle Rock Spur. It is a great family restaurant with good food and plenty of choices to please everyone and the kids really love the play area. A really fun place to go with the family.
