Joondalup Growers Market – Something I love to do on a weekend is have a wander around a farmers market. There’s a new weekly Saturday market in Joondalup, in the leafy Central Park. It’s best to park in the main car park on Grand Boulevard. Parking is FREE on the weekend in Joondalup. There is also a fair bit of street parking around.
At the Joondalup Growers Market you can stock up your fridge with super fresh fruit and veggies, as well as grab something tasty for breakfast or even treat yourself to a bunch of beautiful flowers. Go on, you deserve it!
There are local fresh fruit and vegetable sellers, where I noticed the prices were much better than at the supermarket and the produce looked like its very good quality.
There’s also fresh seafood and meats available from the green pastures of Baillee Farm, in the Avon Valley.
There are some really interesting stalls to browse around. You may find some unique gift ideas from succulent pots to aquaponics (fish bowls that also grow herbs!).
Enjoy a coffee (from a kombi!) and brekkie on the boardwalk. It’s a lovely spot on the lake and the live entertainment gives the market a great atmosphere.
We cannot pass a giant frypan of snags. Chef loves a German bratwurst sausage with some fried onions.
There are also lots of other take away food available from many different cuisines including Italian and Turkish, as well as freshly squeezed juices.
The market is still new, so at the moment kids activities are happening on a sporadic basis. On the weekend that we visited there was face painting for little ones.
The pony rides were also a big hit with the kids. They’ll also love exploring this lovely park, just keep your eyes on little ones, as there is a lake and stream.
As well as all of the above, there is also baked goods, plant stalls, honey, cheese stalls, olive oil, tea and lots more food to eat and try. There’s live music, which creates a great atmosphere.
The Joondalup Growers Market is on each Saturday from 8am to 12pm and the line-up of stalls change a little each week. There are public toilets onsite. It’s best to take cash as there isn’t an ATM at the market, some stalls do take EFTPOS though.
