Shrek and his friends have arrived at Crown Pyramid!
From the 23rd of June to the 23rd of July, your favourite DreamWorks characters will be lighting up the Crown Pyramid! Lights By DreamWorks is a wonderful walk-through “exhibition style” experience that includes many of DreamWorks’ beloved animated stars.
The massive Crown Pyramid has been transformed with the feel of a Chinese lantern style festival. There are over 100 huge lit-up characters from movies …
How To Train Your Dragon
Kung Fu Panda
The characters look beautiful all lit up. There are a few anamatronic characters too.
At Lights By DreamWorks the free activities will capture the imagination of your children. There’s lantern making, where kids can get creative with textas and paper.
Design your own Viking shield. Each child is given a wooden shield to draw and colour their own design onto.
Design your own movie character. Kids can use the lightboxes to trace their own movie characters and colour them in.
Professional photos with DreamWorks characters (such as Shrek) are also available at an extra cost. Around the Crown Pyramid there are roving DreamWorks characters high five-ing and cuddling the kids. Have your cameras at the ready to get a snap with them too!
There are loads of kiddie rides for most ages. We noticed that there were a couple more rides for older children and adults, compared to previous shows at the Pyramid. You can ride on as many as you like, as they are free with your admission ticket. Some rides are gentle and suit toddlers, though there are some that have height restrictions and are a little more daring! Parents are also able to ride with their children on many of the rides, our pick of the bunch includes:
Supa Nova – this is a huge ride that reaches the roof of the pyramid. It gets raised high up, and swings around and around. It’s lots of fun for older children and adults, but not for anyone scared of heights.
The Sizzler is great for little daredevils, it spins very fast!
The bumble bee ride is suitable for younger children.
The mini carousel with jeeps, teacups and more has something to suit all children.
The motorbike ride will excite little rev-heads, they can toot the horn and do a wheelie!
There’s also an inflatable shark slide!
If you need a break, sit down at the little theatre and watch a DreamWorks movie.
There are also a couple of carnival games which cost $5 for a turn, where kids can have a go at winning a prize.
There are a few food vendors around the Crown Pyramid, selling meals (like fish and chips, hot dogs etc), drinks and snacks. There are also healthy options like fruit salads, sandwiches and leafy salads. Or Nutella doughnuts if you feel naughty!
There is merchandise for sale too.
We enjoyed the festive atmosphere at the spectacular Lights By DreamWorks – there is something for the whole family. Crown Pyramid can be found on the carpark opposite McDonalds and the Crown food court.
Lights By DreamWorks hold multiple two hour sessions on each day until the 23rd of July.
