Lights in the Heights is a FREE Christmas Lights experience for the whole family! I take my kids every year, it is one of our favourite Christmas events and is on every night from 10 – 15 December at C3 Church Hepburn Heights.
Although the event is FREE tickets are required, tickets can be booked online through Eventbrite, but hurry most sessions have already reached capacity.
As you enter you are given a map showing the 8 different zones after you have visited each zone your map will be stamped by a volunteer, collected all 8 stamps to receive a candy cane at the exit.
The first zone is the entrance, the kids will love walking through the tunnel lined with Christmas lights that leads to the second zone, Winter Wonderland. In Winter Wonderland you are surrounded by stunning white Christmas trees, each tree is decorated in different colours. There is also a train set with miniature people, houses, lights and a rotating ferris wheel which was a big hit with the kids.
Zone 3 is Candy Cane Lane, the line consists of houses, a general store and church decorated with giant candy canes, lollipops and gingerbread men. As the music plays the room illuminated with bright flashing lights that are synchronised to the music. The room also smells like peppermint!!!
The next zone is Santa’s Workshop, where the kids can make their own Christmas tree to take home. As you enter Santa’s Workshop each child is given a skewer, strips of paper are located on the table and the volunteers were giving out the stars as needed.
There is also a huge inflatable Christmas tree.
The First Noel is zone 5, in this zone you’ll find a nativity scene and the word LOVE in lights on the wall.
In zone 6 you can take a walk through giant Christmas storybooks; Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Away in a Manger and We Three Kings.
Zone 7, the Photo Booth is all about snapping that perfect Christmas pic!
Snap a picture of Santa in his sleigh!
Get silly and create your own photo strip.
Or take the perfect family photo in front of the fire by the Christmas tree… or at least try 🤔
There are 3 of each photo booth sense meaning less queuing, there are props available to use and the volunteers are happy to take photos for you so you can jump in on the fun!
They definitely saved the best for last, Neon Dance! My kids and their friends loved dancing along to the virtual dancing Santa.
The room has UV lighting, kids can also get their face painted with UV paint. To stand out in the crowd wear white or your favourite fluorescent colours.
The paint is slow to dry, so I wouldn’t recommend it for little ones… we learnt this the hard way, although it does wash off very easily.
There are some other great photo opportunities inside, neon light angel wings and UV painted palm trees.
To exit you head through the neon tunnel – the artwork and lighting are pretty spectacular.
Lights in the Heights is sponsored by The Life Project and hosted at C3 Church Hepburn Heights, the event is run by hardworking volunteers, we think they did a fantastic job!
