The Mastercard Hopman Cup 2019 featuring tennis icons Roger Federer and Serena Williams is on at the RAC Arena from 29 December – 5 January 2019.
Every day is kid’s day at the Hopman Cup, meaning this year the Hopman Cup is more family-friendly than ever! Kids are able to attend all day sessions FREE during the tournament (excluding the final) and there is plenty to keep them entertained on and off the court! Kids 14 and under are free with a paying adult. This applies to the General Admission section only, kids tickets must be collected from the box office on event day.
Upon arrival, before entering the RAC Arena the kids had a ball checking out the freebies, which included, Channel 9’s “Crack the code” and a giant tennis ball. Bankwest’s human vending machine giving away goodies to make your time watching the tennis as enjoyable such as sweat bands, a fan that plugs into your mobile phone (only compatible with iPhone) and blow up backrests. We also found a big Hopman Cup trophy to snap a picture with.
After heading inside we found Hoppy the Quokka who was more than happy to stop for a quick photo! We also got our faces painted with our team flag.
On level 1 near door 15 we found the mini hot shots court, the kids were able to practice their tennis skills, for having a go they were given a free racquet and activity pack.
Near door 9 the kids were able to design their very own fan banner at the City of Perth stand, and if you haven’t already got a team flag you can grab one from there as well. You can also get an up-close look at the Hopman Cup Trophy which is nearby.
Our general admission tickets meant we could sit almost anywhere, we sat through door 16, it was perfect, the kids were able to get autographs and photos with the players and we were out of the sun.
If you have Instagram make sure you upload them and hashtag ‘#hopman’ to have your photo shown on the big screen – it will absolutely make the kids day!
I’m not a huge tennis fan but I have developed a keen interest since attending my first Hopman Cup match a few years ago! I was pretty excited to take my 8 year old to her very first tennis match and she absolutely loved it. I’d be lying if I said there weren’t times she complained she was getting bored, this is where the activity pack with the tennis racquet came in handy, or just going for a little walk to check out the activities – but all in all we had 3 long games so she did extremely well.
REMEMBER, All bags larger than A4 (including handbags, nappy & baby bags) are not permitted in the venue, so avoid the hassle and leave them at home.
Free public transport is included with your ticket, if you want to park at the RAC Arena it is $30.
