If you are looking for a cafe that focuses on local produce, has a zero waste philosophy, delicious food, amazing coffee and a kids play area then you need to visit Our Ruby Girl.
Our Ruby Girl is a brand new cafe in Como that ticks all the boxes! It is also a small batch providore selling the most amazing items from local suppliers.
When I first entered I was blown away with how inviting and established the cafe looked – they had only opened the day before I visited, yet the vibe felt like they had been there for years and the customers already looked like regulars.
I headed straight to the kids play area that was set on a little fully enclosed outside veranda. The play area has 2 sandpits and some small toys and sidewalk chalk. There’s also a table out there which is where I enjoyed sitting with my coffee in the sun! I really loved that surrounding the play area was planter boxes with fruit trees and herb and vegetable plants planted.
Miss 2 beelined for the sandpits so I sat and enjoyed my coffee for a few minutes. We also ordered some house-made crumpets, with an extra serve, which comes with locally produced small batch butter and jam. This was so tasty and the perfect mid-morning snack.
On my way out I had a quick look at some of the products available for sale. There are goods that include locally produced peanut butter, candles, lactation cookies and keep cups. There really was an incredible selection of items that would make beautiful gifts.
There’s also a park across the road so you could grab a takeaway coffee and some of the little cakes, that are available at the counter, and enjoy a picnic and play. Remember to bring your keep cup as, in line with the cafe’s zero waste policy, they do not supply disposable takeaway cups. I love this!
This cafe is so good! I love the vibe, the kids area, the no waste philology and the focus on local produce. The quality of the produce really shines through in the food and coffee, making for a delicious experience.
