My absolute favourite place to stay in Margaret River is the Pullman Resort at Bunker Bay.
The 5-star resort is nestled on the white sands of the beautiful Bunker Bay. The resort is made up of 150 studio, 2-bed and 3-bed villas which offer direct beach access via a series of boardwalks through the resort’s immaculate landscaped grounds.
The accommodation is of a high standard with the two bedroomed villas offering heaps of space for families. The villas are elegantly designed with a cathedral ceiling which gives a great feeling of light and space.
The two bedroomed villas have two bathrooms, one of which houses a washing machine and dryer.
A well-equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, dishwasher and full sized fridge with freezer compartment.
Each villa has its own outdoors area which is fronted by lots of foliage making it private.
The two bedrooms are of good size and can be arranged as two kings or a king and two singles. The beds are super comfy!
The resort is pedestrianised so if you need a hand to your villa with your luggage you can hitch a ride on a golf cart.
The resort has a beautiful infinity pool which overlooks the bay. Unfortunately, it is not very child-friendly as the shallow end of the pool is 1.4 metres, the water came up to my neck, so you really have to keep a very close eye on your children when using the pool.
The pool area is fenced and gated and includes the gym. There is free sunscreen available to use, and if you get a bit peckish or thirsty, you could order a poolside snack by ringing the bar using the phone provided.
The beach at Bunker Bay is stunning! It’s a huge sandy bay, and the waves are calm making it perfect for kids. An area of the beach is patrolled by Surf Life Saving.
The beach is accessed via a boardwalk that takes you over a lake and through the bush. The resort provides beach towels but don’t forget to bring your beach umbrella!
Nestled in the dunes on Bunker Bay is Bunkers Cafe, one of the few beachfront cafes in WA. The cafe is open daily for breakfast and lunch.
The resort has a restaurant, ‘Other Side of the Moon’ and a bar onsite.
The quality of the food at both the restaurant and bar area is fantastic with the menu packed with locally sourced ingredients. We always look forward to dining there – the antipasto platter is a favourite!
There is a small kids menu ranging in price from $14 – $16 which features Ribeye steak, chips & vegetables, grilled chicken chips & vegetables, classic bolognese and fish & chips. Again the meals are of excellent quality.
We always request a booth table in the lower area of the restaurant as we feel that they accommodate the children better. Highchairs are available.
Breakfast is served every morning from 7am to 1o.30am in the restaurant and it offers a great selection, there is even a juicing station. It’s always a treat to sit on the terrace overlooking the ocean whilst having your breakfast!
During the school holiday periods, the resort offers a kids club. Some activities are complimentary such as the daily afternoon movie screening in the smug but most you have to pay an additional fee for which is $10 per activity or $25 per day for the My Resort Kids Package. The package included all daily activities plus a kids meal, drink & dessert, a welcome surprise and a free in house movie and popcorn.
We opted for the My Resort Kids Package for two days of our stay which we found to be great value. The kids loved the surprise of returning to the villa after a trip to the beach to find a teepee set up with a gift of bucket and spades and a beach ball.
During our stay, the kids had a fabulous time creating the most amazing cupcakes with resident Michelin star experienced French Pastry Sous Chef Romain Lassiaille.
Swimming with Mermaid Nixie
And Nerf Gun Wars with Tom.
If you wish to dine in the comfort of your own villa there a couple of free gas BBQ’s available for use.
We love the Pullman Resort and usually visit a few times a year. One thing that we have found to be of great value is investing in an Accor Advantage Plus Card. The card costs $395 a year and provides one complimentary night’s accommodation across the Accor Hotel network in the Asia Pacific region which includes brands such Pullman, Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, and The Sebel amongst others. The card also provides other privileges such as up to 50% off dining, 10% off room rates, member special offers, a welcome drink, free internet and reward points. We usually get our investment back in one stay! To find out more visit www.accorplus.com
The Pullman Resort is located a short drive from many of the family-friendly attractions of the Margaret River Region. While we were there, we visited Sunflowers Animal Farm, Simmo’s Ice-creamery, Xscape at the Cape and Cheeky Monkey Brewery.
