The Ground Cafe is more than just a great spot to grab a coffee and something yummy to eat… it is a toddlers paradise!
At The Ground Cafe, you have the choice of indoor or outdoor dining, given the huge outdoor play area and beautiful gardens… we didn’t even consider sitting inside. The cafe is pram friendly, there’s plenty of high chairs available and a baby change room. The outdoor tables overlook the play area with table configurations big enough to accommodate a whole Mother’s group.
The outdoor play space is fully fenced and suitable for crawlers to 5 year olds, although I think my 8 year old would have secretly enjoyed it too! There is so much for kids to do and explore, there are ride on bikes, a small toddler plastic climbing frame with rock climbing wall, telescope and slide, a sandpit, pirate ship, more slides, a swing, seesaws and plenty of grass for kids to just run around. Since our visit, additional shade has been added, but it is still a good idea to bring a hat and suncream for the kids. We easily stayed for 2.5 hours, the kids only coming back to the table when they were hungry.
The outdoor play area is definitely the highlight but the food and drinks were absolutely amazing too, and great value! We visited for breakfast and ordered the kids pancakes, one with syrup and the other with Nutella, both were served with slices of fresh apple and strawberries, my friend’s daughter ordered the scrambled egg with toast. We couldn’t fault any of the meals, and the kids demolished them! For myself, I ordered the breakfast wrap, which was super yummy!!!
We also order the kids a baby chino each, these were served in small takeaway cups with lids (perfect to avoid spills) and a big marshmallow.
While the kids played, I couldn’t help but admire the beautiful gardens with fresh herbs that the staff would pop out and collect fresh for meals. There was even a banana tree and grape vines, the kids loved finding the roosters hiding in the garden too.
Inside is rather eclectic, but the new owners have plans to renovate. There is a cabinet with muffins, banana bread and slices, they also sell coffee beans to take home.
We really enjoyed our experience at The Ground Cafe, the owners and staff are lovely. It really is the ultimate spot to enjoy that hot cup of coffee with friends while the kids safely play.
