Winterworld Australia has taken over Fremantle Esplanade Park from 24 June – 16 July, with lots of snowy winter fun and outdoor ice-skating, there’s SNOW place like it! Free to enter but tickets must be purchased for ice skating and the other activities.
The main attraction is the 600 square metre pop-up outdoor ice-rink, an attraction everyone will love from young children, families, teens and adults, it is also wheelchair accessible. Penguins are available for a fee to help keep you stable and to push around the rink. The only restriction is due to safety reasons pregnant women and babies or children in arms are unable to skate, recommended age for children is 2+.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office, it is strongly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance as sessions do sell out and there is also a discount for online bookings. Early bird tickets are also available between Saturday 24 – Friday 30 June with Under5’s FREE (usually $5) and everyone else $15 +BF (saving up to $9 per skater).
Online tickets are; under 5’s $5.00 + BF, children aged 5 – 15yrs $15.00 + BF, adults $24.00 + BF and penguins $10.00 +BF. Sessions are 1 hr and all ticket prices include FREE skate hire. Double runners and helmets are available for the little ones.
If you aren’t into skating there are multiple seating options available, board games, an open fire pit, and bar to enjoy while watching, and it’s FREE to spectate! The bar includes adult beverages as well as child friendly options, such as juice, water, spiders and snow cones. There is also a number of food options available.
We had a great time roasting s’mores by the fire, s’mores can be purchased for $5 or vanilla bean marshmallows for $3 from Little Polkadot Pantry. Delicious and a great way to keep warm.
Other activities to enjoy are a huge inflatable pop-up slide, toboggan and a REAL snow pit – and the fun isn’t limited to just the kids!
Children and adults can jump, slip and slide on the giant inflatable slide. Tickets can be purchased online for $5 +BF or $7.00 at the box office for 10 minutes.
Racing the real ice toboggan was the highlight for my children aged 11 & 6, participates must be 1 metre high or over. Tickets can be purchased online for $7.50 +BF or $10.00 at the box office for 3 slides.
WA’s first REAL snow pit is heaps of fun as well, from building snow castles, making snow angels and having a cheeky snowball fight – we had a blast, just make sure you pack some gloves. Tickets can be purchased online for $7.50 +BF or $10.00 at the box office for 20 minutes.
