We stayed at Yallingup Forest Resort for 4 nights in early January. When choosing the accomodation for our holiday I really liked the fact the Resort was nestled within a forest but yet conviniently located; only minutes from some of the most stunningly beautiful beaches and only 10 minutes drive to Dunsborough.
We stayed at the Amberley chalet 5A. It was very spacious and fully equiped; television, DVD and CD players with a complimentary DVD rental facility available at the resort’s reception. The kitchen was functional and the fridge was new and very spacious.
There is no A/C but all rooms have fan ceilings and some extra vertical fans for very hot days. We visited in early january and it was actually a bit chilly in the evening and mild in the day so we never missed the A/C.
There is also a laundry room shared with the next door chalet.
The majority of the chalets are two bedroom duplex. Our chalet had one queen sized bed, and twin single beds, Bath/shower and a separate toilet.
Towels and bed linen are provided.
Each chalet comes with a big verranda. We enjoyed sitting on the verranda, sipping local wine and listening to native wildlife. On a few evenings we had some few very friendly and curious kookaburras visiting too.
About 50 metres from our chalet there was a swimming pool, tennis court, barbecue facilities and a children’s playground with cubby and trampoline.
The kids enjoyed a swim in the pool the first day we arrived.
One evening we had a BBQ while the kids were playing at the playground.
We did not get the chance to do it but there are few walking trails withing the Resort. My excuse for not walking was “I did not bring my walking shoes!!” 😉
YFR also shares the same ground with the Bush Shack Brewery in fact we visited the Bush Shack once – its a great spot to chill out and try some home-style brews – and also the OM Day Spa if you’re in need of a little pampering.
Tips:
Resort’s ground is very big. Some of the Chalets are a far walk away from the facilities. If you wish to be close to the swimming pools etc request a chalet with lower numbers.
Chalets are independent but you will have a nextdoor neighbour and only a “door” separates you. Although the chalets are very private and you wont see them and they wont see you you may hear them and vice versa.
However, extended families and larger groups may wish to open the interconnecting doors to create a spacious four bedroom home with two kitchens, two bathrooms and two lounges. So it is ideal for 2 families. You could actually accomodate all the kids in one chalet and parents in the other 😉
